Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The wide stem is moss green, and is covered in handfuls of flexible crimson spines. The pointed leaves are generally purple. Small amounts of them grow on round, sky blue branches that are short, rigid and upright. The leaves are flimsy, but take some effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 49 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid crimson petals and a deep green central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of many petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. It has the faintest scent that smells like soap.

The leaf succulent's skin is delicate, the bright red flesh is soft, and the grey sap is thin.
