Copper Spine Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 22 feet (6.7 meters) tall. The perforated stem is emerald, and is covered in copious amounts of flexible grey spines. It has a twisting, flat, bronze trunk atop a wide mess of waxy, exposed roots. The branches are flat and yellow-green and are very long and thick.

The smooth-edged, thick leaves are either beige, or peach with copper edges. They are robust, and take little effort to detach.

It is quick growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid cyan petals and a gentle red central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of several raised, round-tipped petals. It has a soft scent that smells like blood.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the indigo flesh is smooth, and the caramel sap is thin.

It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
