Bluebell shrub

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 176 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous wide, straight stems covered in thin, smooth, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, broad, flat, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either brown, or muted blue with hazel patches, frail and waxy.

It produces handfuls of large, blue flowers with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like bleach. In mid-summer it forms medium-sizedsilver berries.
