Azurefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 19 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in delicate, wrinkled, dark brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of large, wide leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are light brown with vibrant blue tips.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of medium-sized, peach blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like perfume.

In mid-autumn it produces small, oblong fruit. The soft azure skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy purple flesh is salty and juicy. The lime seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It has impressive regenerative properties.
