This enormous leaf succulent grows up to 167 feet (50.9 meters) tall. The stiff, pointed stem is azure or magenta, and is dotted with small cream spines. The bubbly leaves are sky blue and peach. Handfuls of them grow on wide, slate and orange-yellow branches that are very long and thin. The leaves are sturdy, but do not detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 33 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid florescent red petals decorated with hazel lines and a turquoise central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 24 curved petals. It has a strong scent that smells like fruity.

The leaf succulent's skin is rock-hard, the blue flesh is waxy, and the vibrant blue sap is thin.
