Indigo Succulent

This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The sickle shaped stem is gray-green, and is covered in large amounts of flexible light brown spines. The straight, yellow trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its pink-red branches are long and slender and start growing at the base the stem.

The small bunches of smooth-edged, wispy leaves are faded orange on the sides and indigo at the center. They are strong and tough, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with deep yellow petals and an azure central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is largely flat with 26 tightly layered narrow petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like apple.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the bronze flesh is leathery, and the blue sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
