Bloodvine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The needle-like stem is yellow-green, and is dotted with small brown spines. It has a straight, stocky, grey trunk atop a round platform of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are thick and burgundy and are long and thin.

The jagged-edged, asymmetrical leaves are blood red and green. They are light, and easily come away when pulled.

It is fast growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are light yellow on the underside and pink on the top grows at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 15 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a faint scent that smells like skunk spray.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the lilac flesh is rough, and the azure sap is thin.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
