Blackvine

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 34 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of wide, slanted stems covered in hard, smooth, black bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short and slender that and are covered with small bunches of small, needle-like, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are slate with dark brown tips, tough and covered in fine hairs.

In mid-spring it produces large amounts of giant, grey blossoms with 5 oblong shaped petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like bleach.

In midwinter long, straight fruits ripen. The leathery beige skin is thick and inedible, and the soft white flesh is sweet and spicy and very dry. The blood red seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
