Bloodvine

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 498 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in delicate, cracked, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is burgundy-brown.

The small bunches of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small bunches of smooth, large, finger-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are blood red and pink.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of small, blood red blossoms with spiral petals. They are hardy and have the faintest scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In late summer it forms large, white, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
