Coilvine

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in hard, silky, brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The numerous branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of large, circular leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid silver or bronze, with yellow splotches.

In early spring, it produces many giant, lilac blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like marzipan.

In late summer it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The crispy azure skin is thick and spicy, and the very soft dull orange flesh is overwhelmingly bitter and powdery. The slate seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
