Blackbell

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 104 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has several very thick, straight stems covered in paper-thin, silky, black bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of miniature, wide, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of orange that gradient shifts to olive at the top, rigid and smooth.

It produces large amounts of tiny, lilac flowers with crescent-shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an intensely strong scent that smells like fresh linen. In late autumn it forms smallwhite seed pods.
