Grass type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)This small, dark grey grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The broad, flat stalks grow in large clumps that are flexible and they are slow to spread and grow.
When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a large, violet tuft.
During the mid-autumn, it produces a modest amount of pollen, and after flowering, it is left with a modest amount of medium-sized grains.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
