Bloodvine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The perforated stem is lime green, and is covered in lots of fine, blood red, hair-like spines. It has a wavy, flat, vivid yellow trunk atop a flat clump of silky, exposed roots. The branches are slender and lime green and are tall, rigid and upright.

The smooth-edged, pleated leaves are found in silver and orange varieties. They are delicate, but easily come away when pulled.

It is fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid aquamarine petals decorated with black lines and a aquamarine central disk grows at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 10 petals. It has a soft scent that smells like fruity.

The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the light grey flesh is slimy, and the amber sap is thin.

It is suitable for making paper
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
