Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 127 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of slender, crooked stems covered in paper-thin, silky, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is silver.
The branches are short, thin and wispy with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, wispy, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are ashy orange on the edges and orange at the center, frail and smooth.
It produces dozens of small, bright purple flowers with stiff, pointed petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like roses. In mid-summer it forms largecaramel, tough-shelled seeds.
The entire plant is edible and the grains areextremely savoury.
It is difficult to cut through.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It can flourish even in standing water.
