Copperfruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in hard, smooth, black bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, broad, flat leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are found in white, silver and cyan varieties.

In early spring, it produces balls of medium-sized, peach blossoms with kidney-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like candle wax.

In mid-summer it produces large, circular fruit. The rough amber skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy dark brown flesh is sweet and powdery. The crimson seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
