Amberberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 54 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in hard, ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The small bunches of branches are very short and thin and are covered with copious amounts of huge, very narrow and elongated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are brilliant green and amber.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, light brown blossoms with broad, flat petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like cotton.

In late summer it produces small, pentagon-shaped fruit. The smooth azure skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy olive flesh is overwhelmingly bitter and very juicy. The green seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
