Blueberry Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 23 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, rough, brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of tiny, heart-shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are amber and bronze.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, faded green blossoms with pleated petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like rainy days.

In early winter it produces , oblong fruit. The rough sky blue skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is spicy and salty, and the very soft silver flesh is sweet and dry. The dark orange seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
