Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wonky trunk covered in thin, smooth, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale brown.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, pleated leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are blue on the sides and slate at the center.

In early spring, it produces several giant, brilliant yellow blossoms with circular petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a soft scent that smells like new books.

In early summer it produces tiny, circular fruit. The hairy brilliant yellow skin is thick and extremely bitter, and the very soft blue flesh is bitter and very juicy. The red seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

All parts of the tree are edible.
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
