Coniapple Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, light gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is light brown.

The branches are long and slender and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, very thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of gray-green that gradient shifts to dark grey at the top.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, slate blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like meat.

In mid-summer it produces small, asymmetrical fruit. The leathery lime skin is thin and spicy, and the crunchy cyan flesh is sweet and oily. The silver seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
