Coral

This short leaf succulent grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The tapering stem is pink-red, and is covered in lots of rigid pale red spines. The stumpy leaves are moss green with silver tips. Handfuls of them grow on round, gray-green branches that are long, thin and wispy. The leaves are delicate, and do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 35 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid intense orange petals and a beige central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of raised round-tipped petals. It has a soft scent that smells like fish.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the intense yellow flesh is leathery, and the indigo sap is thin.
