Caramel

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 78 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous flexible, twisting stems covered in paper-thin, cracked, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are long and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of small, wide, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are black at the bottom and caramel with peach edges at the top, hardy and rough.

In early spring it produces thick bunches of giant, faded green blossoms with kidney-shaped petals. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like sweat.

In early winter tiny oval fruits ripen. The soft brown skin is thin and overwhelmingly bitter, and the soft purple flesh is sweet and sour and dry. The green seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.
