Coilwood

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 77 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several very thick, straight stems covered in paper-thin, smooth, brown bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short, thin and wispy that and are covered with small amounts of giant, wispy, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are indigo and azure, resilient and fuzzy.

In late summer it produces dozens of giant, red blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like an ocean breeze.

In mid-autumn oval fruits ripen. The waxy vivid yellow skin is thick and inedible, and the slightly crunchy dull orange flesh is salty and sticky. The dark grey seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.
