Copperfruit Tree

This huge fruit tree grows up to 53 feet (16.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The small bunches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of small, finger-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are found in light brown and azure varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, violet blossoms with 5 V-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like new carpet.

In mid-autumn it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The hairy vivid yellow skin is stretchy and sweet, and the very soft copper flesh is savoury and syrupy. The muted orange seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
