Bluelace Fruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, cracked, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is pine-coloured.

The abundance of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with thick bunches of large, finger-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in subtle orange, violet and pink varieties.

In early spring, it produces dozens of small, turquoise blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like meat.

In late autumn it produces tiny, pleated fruit. The rubbery muted blue skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft peach flesh is sweet and very dry. The bronze seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
