Ashy Blue Fruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 75 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, wavy trunk covered in fine, waxy, light gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is brown.

The branches are short and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, asymmetrical leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are peach on the edges and lime at the center.

In early spring, it produces thousands of tiny, ashy blue blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like onion.

In mid-summer it produces large, pleated fruit. The sticky subtle yellow skin is tough and salty, and the soft white flesh is sweet and spicy and sticky. The caramel seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
