Copperberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 22 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in very thick, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is burgundy.

The branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of huge, slender, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in lime and brown varieties.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, orange blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like coffee.

In early summer it produces tiny, pleated fruit. The waxy indigo skin is thin and bland, and the soft hazel flesh is sweet and syrupy. The bold orange seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
