Crimson Spine Succulent

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 34 feet (10.4 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is gray-green or orange, and is covered in brittle red spines. It has a angular, flat, crimson trunk atop a very thick platform of knobbly, exposed roots. The branches are flat and silver or cyan and are short stubs.

The wavy-edged, long, narrow leaves are light brown and pastel purple. They are hardy, and take little effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with alternating petals of white and purple, with a cream central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of many petals in raised layers. It has an overpowering scent that smells like cotton.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the aquamarine flesh is smooth, and the bronze sap is thin.
