Caramel Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This massive fruit tree grows up to 68 feet (20.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in silky, brown-green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black with white speckles.

The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of miniature, broad, flat leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise on the edges and brown at the center.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, blood red blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In mid-autumn it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The rough caramel skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy beige flesh is sweet and oily. The caramel seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
