Climbing Olive

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in silky, silver and white bark, and inside, the soft wood is white.

The abundance of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small amounts of large, slender, pointed leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown on the edges and caramel at the center.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of giant, olive blossoms with fan-like petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In mid-summer it produces large, long, curved fruit. The smooth purple skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is sweet and spicy, and the slightly crunchy purple flesh is very sour and powdery. The orange seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
