Burgundy Twistvine

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 10 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of stocky, twisting stems covered in thick, smooth, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are long and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of large, stiff, pointed, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are peach and bold green, resistant and soft.

In early spring it produces copious amounts of giant, pastel blue blossoms with 6 umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like onion.

In early winter cuboid fruits ripen. The crispy violet skin is stretchy and sweet and spicy, and the very soft dull orange flesh is sweet and salty and juicy. The slate seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
