Bloodthorn Succulent

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The narrow stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thick sheets of rigid dull red spines. The straight, blood red trunk can grow to as much as 3 feet (91.4 cm) in diameter at the top. Its burgundy branches are short, rigid and upright and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The small bunches of serrated-edged, circular leaves are either silver or bronze, with amber splotches. They are strong, and detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are grey at the sides and muted blue at the center grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. It has a powerful scent that smells like fresh linen.

The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the crimson flesh is rough, and the aquamarine sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
