Blue Spine Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 58 feet (17.7 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is yellow-green, and is covered in large amounts of rigid blue spines. It has a crooked, wide, olive trunk atop a bulbous web of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are wide and cream and moss green and trail down towards the ground.

The irregular-edged, asymmetrical leaves are found in blood red, light purple and light green varieties. They are strong, but do not detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are generally azure; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour, grow at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like honeysuckle.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the brown flesh is soft, and the turquoise sap is thin.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
