Crimson Moss

This red moss is commonly found growing in large clumps In heathlands, In damp forests, and In moorlands.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they spread and grow quickly, and is very resistant.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release hundred of spores.
