Bloodvine

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is pink-red, and is dotted with small slate spines. The thick leaves are blood red on the sides and lilac at the center. Handfuls of them grow on narrow, yellow-green branches that are short, rigid and upright. The leaves are robust, but detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with each petal a slightly different shade of azure, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 27 petals. It has a weak scent that smells like new carpet.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the pale orange flesh is rough, and the violet sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
