Bloodvine

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 82 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, angular trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, light gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy-brown.

The abundance of branches are very long and thin and are covered with small amounts of large, thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either hazel, or blood red with lilac dots.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, cyan blossoms with circular petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like cigarette smoke.

In late summer it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The rough azure skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft blood red flesh is bitter and sour and very juicy. The white seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
