Copperbell

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 179 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many very thick, straight stems covered in paper-thin, rough, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down to the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, spear shaped, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are green and lilac, flimsy and smooth.

In late spring it produces lots of tiny, sky blue flowers with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like cinnamon.
