Lilac Succulent

This small leaf succulent grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thick sheets of flexible lilac spines. The jagged-edged, pleated leaves are lilac and blue. Small bunches of them grow from the base in a spiral pattern. The leaves are light, but take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with beige petals that gradient shift to crimson on the outer edge. The central disk is grey grows at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of 18 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a faint scent that smells like onion.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the hazel flesh is leathery, and the amber sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
