Copperbrush

This massive shrub grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for around 12 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous thick, angular stems covered in very thick, silky, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, pleated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid grey with orange patches, flimsy and smooth.

It produces many bunches of giant, green flowers with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a faint scent that smells like burning wood. In late spring it forms largecrimson, winged seeds that float and land far away.
