Bluebell Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 117 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many long and flexible, slanted stems covered in delicate, ridged, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, very thick, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are red on the edges and green at the center, tough and rough.

In late summer it produces lots of giant, bright blue flowers with broad, flat petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like bleach.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
