Blueberry Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, wonky trunk covered in very thick, knobbly, light gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid magenta or green, with grey patches.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, turquoise blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like fresh linen.

In early summer it produces small, slender, 5 pointed fruit. The hairy pink skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft blue flesh is salty and dry. The hazel seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
