Aquamarine Gemvine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The wispy stem is aquamarine, and is dotted with small black spines. The twisting, silver trunk can grow to as much as 3 feet (91.4 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its emerald branches are very long and slender and start growing halfway up the stem.

The small bunches of smooth-edged, wispy leaves are amber on the edges and gentle yellow at the center. They are robust, but do not detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with each petal a slightly different shade of azure, grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 29 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like rotten eggs.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the turquoise flesh is soft, and the dark grey sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
