Crimson Succulent

This small leaf succulent grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The narrow stem is pink-red, and is covered in brittle washed-out yellow spines. The rounded leaves are found in crimson and subtle red varieties. Sparse amounts of them grow on thin, yellow branches that are long and thin. The leaves are durable, but easily come away when pulled.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are bronze at the sides and silver at the center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is made up of 27 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. It has an overpowering scent that smells like lavender.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the brown flesh is sticky, and the slate sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
