Silverwood

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 13 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of thick, wavy stems covered in paper-thin, rough, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of large, wispy, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are intense green on the edges and white at the center, sturdy and smooth.

In late summer it produces large amounts of medium-sized, sky blue blossoms with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like a damp log.

In midwinter tiny long, curved fruits ripen. The smooth vibrant blue skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft sky blue flesh is bitter and very juicy. The red seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.
