Bronzeberry

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 20 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of very thick, straight stems covered in ridged, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are short, thin and wispy that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, thick, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are brown on the edges and grey at the center, delicate and waxy.

In early spring it produces many large, black blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like paint.

In early autumn tiny circular fruits ripen. The smooth bronze skin is delicate and bitter, and the very soft peach flesh is savoury and sticky. The blood red seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.
