Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 59 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous very thick, curved stems covered in very thick, wrinkled, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are short and slender with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, slender, pointed, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid yellow with blue edges, sturdy and smooth.

It produces several small, copper flowers with triangular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like onion. In mid-summer it forms smalllight brown berries.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
