Bloodfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, straight trunk covered in cracked, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is mahogany-coloured.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of large, spear shaped leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are slate on the edges and blue at the center.
In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, blood red blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like blood.
In early autumn it produces , crescent-shaped fruit. The leathery faded green skin is thick and sweet, and the soft olive flesh is sweet and juicy. The bronze seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
