Bluebell

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 95 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many sturdy, straight stems covered in smooth, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are very long and thin that and are covered with very large amounts of huge, broad, flat, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid lilac or sky blue, with washed-out green lines, flexible and waxy.

In mid-spring it produces dozens of tiny, amber blossoms with perforated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In early autumn long, narrow fruits ripen. The waxy red skin is thin and inedible, and the soft red flesh is sour and powdery. The white seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

It is suitable for making paper
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
