Copper-Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 54 feet (16.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 79 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, slanted trunk covered in ridged, gray bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.

The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of small, pleated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in yellow, purple and beige varieties.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, faded purple blossoms with 8 circular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like perfume.

In early winter it produces small, long, curved fruit. The waxy gold skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy red flesh is spicy and juicy. The slate seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It can flourish even in standing water.
