Caramel

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 82 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, wavy trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of huge, long, narrow leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either caramel or azure, with dark brown edges.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, azure blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like a woman.

In late summer it produces tiny, asymmetrical fruit. The rough light grey skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is savoury, and the very soft orange flesh is bitter and savoury and oily. The black seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
