Crimson Moss

This red moss is commonly found growing in small clumps On rotten logs.
It is small, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they are exceptionally hardy, and is overwhelmingly resistant; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores.
